When looking at pockets of Tampa Bay to buy fixer-uppers in, we love the Rowlett Park neighborhood. The Rowlett Park neighborhood about 17 miles North East of Tampa. Its borders touch a large public park connected to the Hillsborough River, providing beautiful scenery for visitors. The area is largely known for the dam built in 1895 at Rowlett Park that holds 1.6 billion gallons of water, providing the supply of water for the City of Tampa.
REVIVAL’S FIXER UPPER
We purchased, renovated, and sold our fixer-upper in Rowlett Park. The seller was a long time landlord that was starting to liquidate some of his rental properties, and this one was a bit of a problem for him due to tenant issues. We stepped in and offered a quick as-is sale with no hassle, and took over the responsibility of resolving the tenant issue. We put in anew HVAC, septic system, and did a full cosmetic update to this home. We loved that the home was on a double lot, making it ideal for a family once fixed up and that it was near the Hillsborough River and Rowlett Park for outdoor Florida living.
According to Redfin.com, the average sale price in Rowlett Park is $173K and the asking price of homes for sale in Rowlett Park has increased 25.4% since October last year. A median sized home in the area is 1,375 square feet and the majority of the home was between 1950-1980.
Rowlett Park offers fun for the whole family. Equipped with street hockey, tennis courts, trails, picnic tables, pier, fitness stations, playground and more, it’s a great place to take the kids for a sunny Saturday! In 2005, an 80′ x 20′ acrylic mural was painted in Rowlett park as part of Community Stepping Stones, a non- profit organization located in Sulphur Springs which started in August 2003 in partnership with the University of South Florida’s School of Art & Art History. When we’re looking for a tasty meal in this area, we head to Mel’s Hot Dogs. This joint has been family-owned and operated since it opened back on July 3rd, 1973. It all started when Mel was traveling the country with his rock band and headed out to find a Chicago style dog in the Tampa area after a long night. He was not able to find one, but he saw a business opportunity to set up his own restaurant featuring Chicago hot dogs.
For dessert in the area, we head to Bo’s Ice Cream! Bo’s has been serving this community delicious ice cream since 1954, and they even have options for pets!
